Veterans History Project,  which endeavors to serve, preserve and honor the stories of U.S. veterans and U.S. citizen civilians who were actively involved in supporting war efforts, invites men and women who have stories to share to schedule an interview at The Adult Center of Prescott, 1280 East Rosser St. Each interview will be video recorded; the interviewee will receive a copy, and the original will be presented to the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. The primary focus of the project is on first-hand accounts from these wars: World War I (1914-1920), World War II (1939-1946), Korean War (1950-1955), Vietnam War (1961-1975), Persian Gulf War (1990-1995), Afghanistan and Iraq conflicts (2001-present). If interested in sharing your story, volunteering to conduct interviews, video taping, contributing supplies, helping financially, call 928-778-3000.

Say goodbye to the Buzzards  Sept. 27, 7 a.m.-2 p.m. at Boyce Thompson Arboretum, Highway 60, Milepost #223, near Superior, as the turkey vultures fly south to spend the winter in Mexico. The Senior Peer Program of West Yavapai Guidance Clinic  encourages residents of the tri-city area who are over age 55 to take advantage of its support groups. Trained senior peer volunteers facilitate these meetings which provide a confidential forum for people to interact with others who may be experiencing life issues such as grief and loss, change in health or marital situation or simply the challenges of aging.
